Wind power producers protest Eskom PPA renegotiation suggestions

Independent power producers in the South African wind energy sector are protesting against the suggestion made by Eskom Holdings SOC to renegotiate certain power purchase agreements. These include the agreements concluded by Eskom, the public energy company, with the entities that obtained the construction of renewable energy plants, as part of Phases 1 and 2 of the national program for the construction of power plants. renewable energy sources.

Brenda Martin, the director of the industry department of the South African Wind Energy Association, shared the position of its members. According to her, such a move would be a breach of the terms of the contracts between the parties and would undermine the confidence of investors.

Martin noted that none of the winning companies have not yet received a formal proposal to renegotiate contracts.
