Teeming trainees working at Chevron Escravos Gas To Liquid (EGTL) plant, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, last week began an industrial action which grounded operations at the facility over alleged delay in regularising their engagement with the company, Vanguard reports.

With the industrial action of the trainees, there will be no monitoring of the plant’s operations, hence the plant can’t work optimally,” a Chevron staff said. “They have withdrawn their services from all Chevron Nigeria Limited locations, not just in Escravos, the EGTL base, but also in Dibi and Okan flow stations,” Edema Collins, President, National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, further said.

He added: “The employment of the protesters was supposed to have been regularized after their 18 months training, but only last night, the company came up with a decision aimed at extending their contract for another six months.” They have been kept as trainee workers of the company for the past five years.”
