Edenville Energy PLC on Thursday said it is “very encouraged” Tanzania’s state-owned electricity utility has re-opened the tender for coal power projects.

Tanzania Electricity Supply Co, or Tanesco, cancelled the tenders on Friday last week, but Edenville said the process have now resumed.

Chief Executive Rufus Short said: “It is very encouraging the tender process has now resumed after such a short delay. I should make it clear our application was submitted and accepted on October 19 in line with the specific requirements laid down by Tanesco.

“The company will however examine the newly released Tanesco documents and determine whether to retain our original submission or submit new documentation by December 7.”
