At least twenty-five private fuel supply pumps were closed last Wednesday in the Soyo municipality, Zaire province, under the guidance of Sonangol, on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling of gasoline and diesel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

These pumps, which only served customers with containers of 25 and 200 liters, used by smugglers, were closed in a joint action between Sonangol Distributors and the Municipal Administration of Soyo.

By the way, the Soyo’s municipal administrator, Lúcia Maria Tomás, said she believes that this measure will discourage the owners of other private fuels stations from engaging in fuel trafficking.
