The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), says it has gone far with the enumeration of customers as part of efforts towards disconnecting all structures under high tension lines in the four states of its operations, The Tide reports.

PHED’s Corporate Communications Officer, Mr John Onyi, disclosed this yesterday. He said:
“Enumerators have gone far with it in the four states and we are waiting for compilations.” Onyi called on customers to cooperate with the enumerators as the initiative is for the safety and good interest of the customers.

It would be recalled that the Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) ordered all distribution companies across the nation to disconnect supplies to all structures, buildings and premises directly under overhead power lines.

The directive which was signed by the Chief Electrical Inspector of the federation, Engr. Peter Ewesor, said the directive became imperative to avert electricity accidents such as the one in Nyangasang in Cross River State which led to loss of lives.
