The Malaysian oil company Petronas has revealed that it has been offered two more F-12 and F-13 blocks, adjacent to its Boudji discovery.
Block F-13 is home to a major prospect called Jove Marine. The company is currently carrying out high-end seismic reprocessing and plans to drill there before the end of the last quarter of 2020.
Jove Marine is located about 50 kilometers northwest of Boudji. It is larger than Boudji in terms of area and is at a water depth of 700 m. Both prospects share the same configuration of geological traps.
In the case of Block F-12, Petronas is studying a prospect called Mbama that should be drilled in the third quarter of 2021. The prospect is located about 70 kilometers from Boudji and is also larger in area, with a depth of 500 meters water.
The company said its discovery of Budji hydrocarbons has shown positive preliminary signs with the confirmation of a good quality 90 m reservoir in the Gamba and Dentale horizons. The evaluation well discovered in 2018 in block F-14 will be developed from next year.
