Pan Africa Solar, an investor in the renewable energy sector has launched a commercial solar home system to be distributed by its new section, PAS BBOXX Limited, Daily Trust reports.
A statement by its director, Jim Howlett said PAS BBOXX has already commenced operation with its first branch in Kano, the second largest city in Nigeria. The project which has partial funding aid from the British government helped developed a plug-and-pay device targeted at low-income households.
“The system comprises a single 50 watts (w) solar panel and a battery unit that can power LED bulbs, charge mobile phones, rechargeable torches and radios. These accessories, designed to plug directly into the PAS BBOXX power unit, will give customers a choice of offerings depending on their budget,” it said.
