OILLTHFTStop the theft campaign has emphasised the need to track the financial flows associated with oil theft in the country.

Dr. Patrick Dele Cole, spokesman of  the group  who spoke at a workshop for international experts on economic crimes, said the development is one of the veritable weapons available to the Nigerian government and international partners in the fight against oil theft.
He said stealing industrial quantities of crude oil and selling it into the international system inevitably involves huge financial transactions which can be traced easily.

He said: “Bringing together these experts from around the world to discuss how to tackle this aspect of the problem is a first step towards deepening knowledge and information on potential solutions to this problem and could form part of a long term and integrated approach.”
