The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has revealed that companies operating in the country waste about 50% of their energy in spite of epileptic power supply, Daily Trust reports.

Speaking during the policy review and enforcement meeting on the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) in Abuja, the Director General of SON, Osita Anthony Aboloma, said these energy wastes could be cut by 10% if the companies adopted energy efficiency in their systems.

Aboloma, who was represented by the Director of Operations of SON, Engineer Felix Nyado, said energy efficiency measures had been applied to two companies in a pilot test and the companies cut production costs, which translated to production gains.
