Nigerian airports need independent power generation – Aviation expert

For better airport facilities, seamless travel experience and increased revenue, the government needs to allow airports in the country to generate their own electricity, an aviation expert, Mr Herbert Odika has said.

Odika told journalists that airports would continue to remain stagnant if power supply remained epileptic with generating plants consuming more than revenue generation.

He stated that the 1000KVA generators that were currently being used at the airports consume drums of diesel on hourly bases, at the cost of N300, 000 per drum.
