Sam-AmadiThe National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has concluded regulation processes for the metering system as it advocates setting up meter manufacturing firms in Nigeria.

Chairman of the Commission, Dr Sam Amadi, who disclosed this at a recent meeting with delegates of the Integrated Power Project Association of Nigeria (IPPAN), said the regulation on metering has been concluded including meter production, supply and installation.

Amadi, who gave the assurance that the commission would give extra push on gas supply to see that it is available as when needed, added that the Commission was also advocating for the setup of meter manufacturing firms in Nigeria to alleviate the cost of importation and related charges.

Earlier, the IPPAN Chairman, Prof. Jerry Gana proposed a quarterly meeting with the Commission, as well as a summit on gas while urging NERC to resolve some bottlenecks that needed urgent regulatory intervention.
Amadi revealed that the Commission was already working out a regulation for electricity offences that will soon be announced.
