Morocco begins RfQ stage of 230MW solar tender

Masen, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, has launched the call for pre-qualification (RfQ) relating to the 230-MW Noor Midelt II solar power plant project.

This marks the beginning of stage one of the process to select a private partner to design, finance, build and operate the particular solar park with a storage component. The plan is to construct the facility near the town of Midelt in the Atlas mountains, utilising both photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies.

Interested parties can submit applications for the pre-qualification round until September 16.

In May 2019, Masen selected a consortium comprising France’s EDF, Masdar and Green of Africa to build and operate the 800-MW Noor Midelt I complex.

At the end of 2018, Morocco had 1,215 MW of wind farms, 1,770 MW of hydropower plants and 700 MW of solar power stations in operation, according to figures provided by Masen.
