KenGen, the Kenyan electricity production company, has just launched a call for tenders for the construction of a solar panel manufacturing plant. The infrastructure which will initially be able to manufacture equipment with a total capacity of 10 MW per year will be located on the site of the Tana power station in Murang’a county.
The selected contracting partner will deliver the factory turnkey, taking into account all the phases of its implementation, from design to construction through the acquisition of equipment. The project also includes the construction of a warehouse capable of housing the equivalent of two years of production from the factory. Interested candidates have until April 20 to send their offers.
The establishment of this plant aims to accelerate the development plan for solar energy, implemented by the government.
