The Kano Electricity Distribution Company has received the approval of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission to engage five vendors to provide meters to customers in the firm’s coverage area.

The management of the company gave the names of the shortlisted vendors as Armese Consulting Limited, Crest Hill Engineering Limited, Meron Nigeria Limited, Mojec International Limited and Momas Electricity Meter Manufacturing Company.

The Head, Corporate Communications, KEDCO, Ibrahim Shawai, said this in a telephone interview with Northern City News in Abuja, on Tuesday.

“These are the five meter vendors subject to approval before the commencement of activities in this regard,” he stated.

Shawai quoted the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, KEDCO, Dr Jamilu Gwamna, as saying, “The finalisation of the procurement process for the engagement of the Meter Asset Providers has been boosted by NERC’s approval. We have prepared for this as we strongly believe it will, to a very large extent, address some pressing challenges bordering on customers’ complaints.”
