Ivory Coast Govt renews operating licenses for 4 oil and gas fields

The Ivorian government renewed, on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the operating authorizations for 4 offshore oil and gas deposits, in order to guarantee the sufficient national electricity production.

These are the oil and gas deposits of block CI27, namely: Foxtrot, Mahi, Manta and Marlai.

This decision by the Ivorian authorities grants exclusive authorization to exploit the oil and gas deposits concerned for a period of ten years, with a view to ensuring the constant and continuous supply of natural gas to the new CIPREL 5 and AZITO 4 thermal power stations.

Note that the CIPREL 5 thermal power plant has an installed capacity of 390 MW, broken down into a gas turbine of 260 MW and a steam turbine of 130 MW, for a production of approximately 2,876 GWh. While the Azito 4 thermal power plant has a capacity of 253 MW, consisting of a gas turbine of 180 MW and a steam turbine of 73 MW.
