In Gabon, electricity production grew by 4.1% in the first quarter amounting to 637 GWh and the quantity of energy distributed made a good 3.2% at 454 GWh. A performance gain supported by the increase in demand brought about by the confinement of households.
The performance of the Gabonese electricity sector improved during the 1 st quarter of 2020 according to the sectoral outlook note issued by the Directorate General of Economy and Tax Policy, one of the divisions of the Ministry of the Economy.
National electricity production increased by 4.1%, reaching 637 GWh in the first three months of 2020. “This development is the result of both the improved performance of the Energy Company and water from Gabon (SEEG) and the Heritage Society (one of the shareholders of SEEG Editor’s note). ” Says the note.
In addition, the amount of energy distributed has also improved. 454 GWh of electricity was distributed to households, which represents a growth of 3.2% compared to last year’s performance over the same period. “This good performance is linked to the solidity of household demand in connection with the containment of populations in March,” says the document.
