How to boost consumption of cooking gas –NLNG

NLNG LOGOThe Managing Director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, Mr Babs Omotowa, has urged the federal government to remove value added tax on liquefied petroleum gas to boost the consumption of the product in the country.

Omotowa, who spoke in Lagos at the 3rd annual conference of the  Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association(NLPGA),regretted that consumption of liquefied petroleum gas, otherwise called cooking gas, in Nigeria is still low.

He said government should also consider tax and duties concession for cooking gas equipment and cylinders as well as grant accelerated capital allowances on infrastructural investments in the product distribution chain.

According to him, the government should be directly involved in importation of cylinders and distribution to cylinders as well as terminal and storage development of cooking gas.
