General Electric (GE) of the United States has proposed to invest $4 billion (about N658.720 billion) on building gas infrastructure for the proposed 300 megawatts (mw) power plant to be sited in Katsina under the Power Africa initiative, Daily Trust reports.

Governor Ibrahim Shema gave an insight into the proposed gas power plant during a recent interaction on foreign direct investments flowing into the state. The gas pipeline would be laid from the Soraz Refinery in Zinder, Niger Republic approximately 350km from Katsina State were the plant will be sited.

Just last week, a team of US officials and their consortium were in the state for on the spot assessment of the power plant’s site.
