Electricity production in Côte d’Ivoire grew by 6.16% in 2019 compared to 2018. During the year, the country produced 10,613 GWh of energy from mainly from thermal power plants (67.2%) and hydroelectric power plants (32.8%). The information was communicated during the last Council of Ministers.

In order to operate these thermal power plants, the country acquired 199 billion CFA francs ($ 318 million) of fuels, including 196 billion CFA francs ($ 313 million) of gas.

The sector as a whole made a profit of 9.2 billion CFA francs ($ 14.7 million) with revenues amounting to 643.9 billion CFA francs ($ 1 billion).

At the same time, crude oil and gas production grew by 12% and 6.8% respectively. The country produced respectively “13 194 133 barrels and 73 790 603 MMBTU corresponding to a daily flow of 36 148 barrels of crude oil and 202 166 MMBTU of natural gas” according to the report of the Council of Ministers.
