Cote d’Ivoire in $392m investment for Azito power plant expansion

The Ivorian government announced at the end of the Council of Ministers, held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, an investment totaling 225.8 billion CFA francs (about $ 392.6 million) to increase by another 253 MW the production capacity of the Azito thermal power plant in Yopougon, in the suburbs of Abidjan.

This project to strengthen the production capacity of the Azito plant, called “AZITO phase 4”, aims to meet the needs of the national electricity demand and the commitments, in terms of export of electricity.

This additional plant will be equipped with two turbines, one with 179 MW of gas and another with 74 MW, for a production of about 2,000 GWh. This will increase the total installed capacity of the current Azito thermal power plant from 430 MW to 683 MW at the end of these investments.
