BP sounds out floater players over PAJ project off Angola

UK supermajor BP is in talks with contractors to provide a floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its Palas-Astraea-Juno project in Block 31 off Angola.

Industry sources said that while a phased subsea tieback to the existing PSVM FPSO in Block 31 remains a possibility, a stand-alone project based on an FPSO has been resurrected as the preferred development solution.

It is understood that a converted FPSO or an existing vessel that could be redeployed are being considered, with the unit able to store at least 700,000 barrels of oil and handle some 75,000 bpd of water.
