Botswana pushes back deadlines for bid for two 100MW solar plants

In Botswana, companies wishing to participate in the tender for the construction of two solar plants with a total capacity of 100 MW have until 27 September 2019 to submit their applications for qualification.

Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) has just postponed the filing deadline, initially scheduled for 9/11.

With this process, the country’s power company wants to identify the companies with the capacity for the installation of these infrastructures with an individual capacity of 50 MW. The selected independent producers will develop, construct and operate these facilities for sale to the BPC as part of a power purchase agreement.

The launch of this call for tenders comes after the organization stopped last May, research started since 2017, a joint venture partner for a solar project with a total capacity of 100 MW. PCB preferred to use independent producers for the project.
