BEDC restores electricity supply to Ondo, Ekiti communities

The BEDC Electricity Plc has announced the restoration of electricity supply to Ode-Aye town in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo South and some communities in Ekiti State.

Residents of the Ondo town commended the BEDC for the restoration of electricity to the town after a long period of the blackout. According to a statement from the BEDC, the firm’s management, led by the Chief State Head, Ondo/Ekiti, Mrs Kunbi Labiyi, on Monday, charged the field staff to do everything possible to ensure that residents of Ode-Aye enjoy electricity beginning from the Yuletide.

It said the BEDC had announced its plan for the town, one of the major communities that had suffered electricity deprivation in the southern senatorial district of Ondo State, with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu issuing a stern directive through his Technical Committee on Power that everything must be done to end the darkness that had enveloped the region in the past 12 years.

The power firm also said that in fulfilment of its pledge to Ekiti State Government, it also restored electricity supply to some communities in Ekiti, namely Erinijiyan, Ipole-Iloro and Ikogosi on Wednesday. It said the BEDC, at a recent meeting with the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, gave the assurance that power would be restored to the tourism corridor of the state before the end of December.
