Bauchi State government has sealed a partnership agreement worth $27.5 billion for the exploration of selected solid minerals and establishment of a pithead power plant project that will contribute 3,500 megawatts of electricity to the national grid in partnership with a Chinese consortium of investors, Leadership reports.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the press secretary to Bauchi State governor, Malam Abubakar Al-Sadique. He said that in addition to generating over $250 million annually from the projects, the projects when completed will generate 10,000 direct and indirect employments to unemployed youth in the state.

Governor Abubakar also said a special purpose vehicle, the Bauchi Mining synergy and exploration limited, has been established to serve as a framework for Public-Private-Partnership to acquire mining rights of virgin mineral terrains and take over all viable titles that failed to meet the requirements of the mineral and mining act of 2007.
