The Power and Energy Africa is the single largest trade event in East Africa dedicated to the energy and power industry in the region. The annual event is held in the 4 most promising countries of the East African Region, namely, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania, attracting delegates from over 22 countries across Africa and around the world. The 2019 dates have been announced for this premier event which includes products and solutions related to new & renewable energy, captive and co-generation plants, generators & ups systems, energy efficiency & conservation, transmission & distribution, IT solutions in power sector, industrial control & automation, power transmission equipments, rotating equipments, plant automation, insulators, voltage regulators and more.

East Africa, with a combined population upwards of 460 million, has recently experienced dynamic development resulting in high rates of urbanization currently registered at 3.6 percent annually. Global estimates indicate an addition of 350 million city dwellers by 2030. Foreseeing an exponential increase in population, East African governments are urgently exploring solutions that will ensure that power infrastructure is developed at a pace needed to meet its growing demands.

As the various countries seek to meet individual power deficit, cross-border energy trade has become a necessity. Large-scale big ticket investment projects like the soon to become the largest wind park in Africa Lake Turkana Wind Power, a soon-to-be commissioned 54.6MW Garissa Solar farm, Zambia–Tanzania–Kenya 400KV transmission lines, 500KV Ethiopia–Kenya transmission line, the Grand Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia generating 6000MW, Karuma Hydropower plant in Uganda (600MW) are just a few of the measure undertaken by the countries in this region to meet the domestic needs and provide 100% electrification.

Large government run initiatives comprise not only the facility itself but also ancillary requirements such as switch gears, cables, grid and control equipment. These facilities also require the acquisition and deployment of other hardware and software systems (metering, data collection and real time processing of information) to ensure that the individual national power grids are able to function as one on a common operational and commercial platform. This presents a multitude of opportunities for the power and energy industry product manufacturers and exporters.

Exhibiting at the largest power event in the industry is a great platform to showcase specialized products and services to the industry’s largest gathering of qualified decision-makers government officials, senior executives and industry players, local distributers and suppliers. Trade visitors from all over East & Central African countries are being invited directly and in collaboration with several regional trade bodies in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique & Congo.
