oil-tanker-MV-Si-001There were signs of heavy silence at the Bayelsa State Police Command at the weekend following alleged disappearance of a PortHarcourt based lawyer identified as Barrister Angello and an oil vessel suspected to have loaded 20,000 metric tonnes of stolen AGO known as diesel from the pipeline of the Agip Oil company in Brass Local Government Area of the State.

The Port Harcourt based lawyer, identified simply as Barrister Angello, was reportedly arrested last wednesday at a bar known as “outside Bar” in the Lekki area of Lagos alongside his client , Chief Ebi, three others and crew members of the oil vessel suspected to be involved in the theft of 20,000 metric tonnes of AGO.

But the family of the arrested lawyer through its spokesperson, Chief Kelvin Abieripie, told newsmen at the weekend in Yenagoa, that investigations conducted by them and the men of the State Police Command showed that those involved in the alleged arrest are not policemen and may have abducted the lawyer and the stolen crude.

According to the Family, those who claimed to be policemen and involved in the purported arrest of their son and others were found to be alleged impostors,” family members now believe that the security operatives that invaded the Bar and boarded the vessel claiming the petroleum products were stolen, had infact abducted Barrister Angelo and Chief Ebi as well as their associates and the vessel at the point where the products were to be delivered to the buyers.”
