Angola’s head of state dismisses secretary of state for petroleum

The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, last Tuesday dismissed Paulino Fernando de Carvalho Jerónimo from the post of secretary of State for Petroleum, in replacement of José Alexandre Barroso.

On a press note issued by the President’s press office, it is stated that the Head of State also appointed five individuals to be part of the board of the National Agency for Petroleum and Gas.

Thus, the Head of State appointed Paulino Fernando de Carvalho Jerónimo to the post of C.E.O of the National Agency for Oil and Gas.

The Head of State appointed as board members of the said agency the following personalities Belarmino Emílio Chitangueleca, César Paxi Pedro, Natacha Alexandre Tavares Ferreira Monteiro Massano and Gerson Henda Baptista Afonso dos Santos.

Officially created in December 2018, the National Agency for Oil and Gas is tasked with dealing with crude-oil exploration contracts in the national territory.
