In South Africa, the French Development Agency has just extended its SUNREF program until November 2020. The purpose of this extension is to allow more companies to have easy access to renewable energies and energy efficiency projects.

SUNREF aims to provide credit lines and technical assistance to companies wishing to set up green energy projects. The line of credit can either be in the form of debt, or combine this type of financing with equity products from the IDC bank partner of the agency on this aspect.

“By extending the implementation period of the SUNREF program, we hope that local businesses will be encouraged to use the credits provided by the facility to support their projects. The program’s green finance line of credit is available to any business involved in an energy efficiency or green energy project, ” said Rob Short of the SUNREF Technical Assistance Facility. Companies that supply manufactured goods or services to players in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector are also eligible.
