Kariba increases power generation capacity

The Kariba North Bank Power station has increased its power generation capacity to 1080 megawatts from 750 megawatts.

Minister of Energy Matthew Nkhuwa says the increase in power generation follows the replacement of two generator’s which were down last week affecting most parts of Lusaka, Kafue and Chongwe Districts.

Mr Nkhuwa says the Kariba North bank is now running with a maximum of six generators adding that Zambia is energy secure. The Minister added that the reservoir water level at the Kariba North bank is favourable for maximum power generation.
