FG ends TCN fibre optic network contract with Phase3 Telecom, Dangote subsidiary

The Federal Government has terminated the concession contracts for the management of the Fiber Optic Network of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) with Alheri Engineering Company Limited; a subsidiary of Dangote group, and Phase3 Telecom Limited, The Sun reports.

In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Raji Fashola, dated October 31, 2017, with reference number FMP\OPS\05\1; Fashola faulted the process of the concession, pointing out breach of agreement, as well as conflict of interest in the entire transactions.

He informed the president that going ahead with the concession would affect the stability, optimization and continued expansion of the national grid, which, in turn, will affect communication in the country generally.
